BLUE-TAILED EMERALD HUMMINGBIRD

The Blue-Tailed Emerald Hummingbird chlorostibon mellisugus is also known as a ”Blenchi” in our native language Papiamento.   Only 9 centimeters long, this bird is the smallest on the island.  Not shy of humans you can find them early mornings in your garden and you will always smile when you spot one.  Their long beaks suck the nectar out of flowers in gardens and they will even make their nests there as well.
