Venezuelan Troupial

Venezuelan Troupial

The Venezualan Troupial icterus icterus is known as the “Trupial” in our local language of Papiamento.  The first bird to sing in the morning is a resident breeding bird on Aruba.  This beauty is the national bird of Venezuela.  They are known as nest pirates.  They will use an empty nest or bully a nest away from another.  The choir in Aruba takes its name from this very popular songbird.
